Symbol is a coin of the public blockchain within the NEM ecosystem. Because of Symbol, the platform has become double-stranded, both chains work in parallel. It is important to note that Symbol is not a fork of NEM. The Symbol program code is developed from scratch. The XYM cryptocurrency circulates only in this blockchain.
